I've figured out what the male Assassin dance is from, obviously it's the robot, but if I remember right it's done exactly how one of the main characters in the movie "Euro Trip" did it.

Monks do a weird blend of tai chi and capoeira.
If you want to see something really crazy, get a male monk to /flex.

Male Ranger's dance is Rerun's dance from "What's Happening?"
Male Assasin's dance is Lamar's dance from "The Revenge of the Nerds"

Male Ritualist - Napoleon Dynamite???
I thought Male Ritualist is Christopher Penn from the 1984 movie Footloose.

Exactly what I've always thought. The Ritualist Female has a couple of moves out of traditional Persian Bellydancing, like that quick quarter-pelvic-twist then back to standard position. But the rest of it, I have no idea what she's doing...

Absolutely correct. No three step ginga. That's one of the more important things to identify Capoiera by.

lol I've been trying to figure out what all the dances are from, as well. And it seems all these dances are derived from someone else from movies or music.
We all know the obvious ones like:
Female Warrior: Pulp Fiction = Uma Thurman
Male Warrior: Pulp Fiction = John Travolta
Male Ele: Seinfield = Elaine
Male Rit: Napeolon Dynamite
Female Necro: Thriller = Michael Jackson
Mesmer Male and Female = River dance
But I'm pretty sure they are copying someone fictional or real.
For instance I figured out that the female Ele is infact a dance by Shakira from one of her singles on her spanish albums.
Dont believe me look up a video for "ojos asi" or just plain google "shairka + belly dancing"
Now another one...I'm not quite sure if its right but I have a hunch that it could be a possibilty that the Female Rit dance is from Beyonce's music video of "Baby Boy." I could be wrong but most of the moves are almost identical.
and someone has mention earlier that
Male Ranger= Rerun's dance (Break-dancing)= What's Happening?
and
Male Assassin = Lamar's dance (The robot)= Revenge of the Nerds
As for the others such as:
Female Ranger = We can only conclude that its a pole dance
Monk Male and Female: Some kind of yoga crossed with martial arts training
Male Necro = Headbanging
and the assassin female is still up for questioning..
*Edit/ :Anyone else find something else as to what those last dances are by?

I dunno bout the female Ranger, I always thought it was some kind of Britney Spears shtick.
As far as the female assassin goes, first time my wife and I saw it, we swore it was some kind of aerobics workout/dance from the 80's... the flips at the end make me want to say something in the area of a gymnastic dance of some kind.

Nope. Capo Eira is a break-dance like fighting style. Most recognizably used by Eddy in Tekken.

capoeira is a fighting style disguised as a dance. south american slaves used this dance to practice their fighting style right under the eyes of their masters, because they werent allowed to train to fight.
female monks do a Kata, which is a simulated fight against imaginairy opponents. nowadays they even do it at martial arts tournaments accompagnied with music . just like dancing:-)
edit: capoera is a noncontact sport btw:-)

I suggest you go watch the old Janet Jackson video, Nasty. There's a couple scenes where you can see almost the entire Female Ranger dance.

instead of kata (which is a japanese word) its probably more apporiate to call it a Form or taolu in chinese.
I am 100% sure the female monks does changquan since I was taught this in the Wu Shu marital art school i went to (where i also learned some Tai Chi which is one the male monk's dance is). see here for description of changquan.
